An attempt at words.

Many people say they understand when I speak of pain. Many have experience with pain of their own. Perception and practice is the main difference.

I have been burned chemically with both acid and base. When I say it feels like acid between the skin and meat, this is what I feel. It is not a 'burning sensation' as most have experienced.

I have been cut by blades both sharp and dull.  I have had glass embedded deep.  When you rub my neck it feels like you are pressing the muscles down onto razor blades or glass shards .

There is a difference between chronic and constant.  There is a difference between a single injury and a lifetime of repeated trauma.  There is a point where even Numb no longer works.

I missed the class where one learns to ask for help.  I slept through the one on accepting those gifts freely offered. I am learning because my stubborn pride is no longer enough.

Some of the most important lessons are also those you think will kill you while you're in the middle of them.

The growth is worth the pain.

Hidden Places

Finding running water in hidden places seems to be a gift.  Just a few minutes listening to the sound of the water flowing past is often all that is needed to recharge.

Lucy thinks she's human.

Angels and answered prayers.

Today I was blessed with an answer to an online plea for help.
My cousin asked about my phone and offered a phone card.
I am learning to accept with grace and ask when there is need.
I have repaired three computers and have several opportunities coming up.
Remember there are angels all around.

Mountain high.

I had forgotten about this account through the vagaries and trials of life.
I am now striving to return to the worlds of Society and Normal.
Several years ago I was riding home from work on my bicycle. I was struck from behind by a vehicle so that my 18-speed and I were inverted when my chin hit their windshield.
Being a " local drunk" the deputy took me to the jail, apparently thinking I am talented enough to not only crash in a way that bent my REAR wheel, but to do so without any road-rash.
I had conversations and interactions I do not remember because I had a concussion. (Assumed)
I doubt many releases have been accomplished as quickly once I woke up and asked," I was run over by a car. Why am I the one in jail?"
As I have done through my life I buried the pain and the anger and continued as if I were okay.
In December 2010 something "popped" in my back while pulling grass from a client's yard with an iron rake. At first the experience was one of pressure behind the base of my sternum.  I was taught to call it the "solar plexis" , but the young lady at the ER was stumped. It felt as if a fist were jammed under my ribs. At that point I was still not "feeling" the pain.  I proceeded through the next two years to learn about the skeletal-nervous interfaces and how they can be damaged.
